Description
On September 27, 2025, we held a wild fiber crafting workshop in A Granxa (Astariz), led by artisan Xosé Manuel Seixas.
Throughout the day, the complete process was explained, from gathering and drying the fibers to transforming them into traditional pieces.
We learned how to make polainas (gaiters), the lower garments placed over trousers to protect against the rain when our ancestors went to work in the fields. We also learned about corozas, a type of cloak made from natural fibers that covered from head to knee, used to shelter from the cold and rain.
In this workshop, we focused on making the polainas, recovering practical knowledge deeply tied to rural life.
